  INTRODUCTION
 



Ermeso's XRE CARS! is a game modification for Fallout: New Vegas. It's main feature is a system for vehicle motion and control, through mechanical modeling and script programming. This guide instructs other artists to create, import and setup their own models in the XRE CARS! system. For more information on the mod, visit the project page on the Nexus.

REQUIREMENTS


From the project page files section:
- XRE CARS!
- The 3rd party Addon Kit containing:
    -Template NIF model and textures
    -Template 3ds Max project
    -Carnivore Special example 3ds Max project
    -Template addon plugin

Latest versions of:
- Fallout: New Vegas
- New Vegas Script Extender
- G.E.C.K.
- NifSkope
- 3ds Max 2012 or equivalent 3D dev app with NifTools plugin

PREREQUISITES


This guide is written assuming:

  • You have at least basic knowledge of a major 3d modeling application
  • You can work with NifSkope
  • You know your way around G.E.C.K.
PROCEDURE


Be sure to read the TECHNICAL section before you begin

= MODEL SETUP SECTION
      1a.
Prepare new car meshes for transfer
      1b. Insert meshes into clean template
      1c. Build and insert collision convex shapes
      1d. Move nodes to match the new car body
      1e. Test and check for errors
= PLUGIN SETUP SECTION
      2a. Update clean template plugin with new model
      2b. Update setup script parameters and place worldref
      2c. Test basic model functions
= MODEL TUNING AND PLUGIN SETUP SECTION
      3a. Adjust model and setup parameters and test
      3b. Repeat until satisfied
= COMPLETION
      4a. Make new car available in game
      4b. Clean up and finalize

  • The Addon Kit and the contents of this guide are free to use for the purpose of creating addon models for the XRE CARS! mod.
  • Addons may be distributed on the Nexus website, provided no changes are made that clearly deviate from the Addon Guide instructions.
